Intermediate Division 50/70,
Lower Burrell Little League is participating in the Intermediate (50/70) Baseball Division for the upcoming season. This new division was introduced in January, 2010, as a pilot program for 12 and 13 year olds, which utilizes a 50-foot pitching distance and 70-foot base paths. This new division of Little League Baseball was available to all leagues as of the 2013 season for players league age 11-13.
However, Lower Burrell Little League will be limiting this to anyone league age 11-12 as well as anyone who turns 13 after April 30th of this year. If you turn 13 before April 30th of this year, you will play in the Pony Division.
Please register for the division available to you on the website and if you are eligible, you will be moved to this division after registration closes.
This offers a transition for players between the standard Little League field size (46-foot pitching distance and 60-foot base paths) and the Junior/Senior field size (60-foot, 6-inch pitching distance and 90-foot base paths).
Many of the Junior League rules are used. Some of these rules include, runners being permitted to lead off bases, runners may attempt to steal at any time, and it allows an on-deck batter.
Some of our neighboring leagues are also participating in this league as well. This gives the players an opportunity to develop the skills for playing at the next level and play real Baseball.
There will be additional information provided as we get closer to the season.
If you are 13 with a birthday between 5/1/07 and 8/31/07 please register for Pony Division and you will be moved after registration closes.
